Chuggington Live! The Great Rescue Adventure steamed into Pittsburgh this past Saturday with 2 shows at the great Benedum Center. The tour is presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, as part of the Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents series.
Chuggington is a popular TV series that can be found on the Disney Jr. network. The 3 stars of the show Wilson, Brewster and KoKo are chuggers in training, but have no idea what is in store for them. Each Chugger has a task to complete, with the help of their friends and the audience nothing can stop them.

First let me say, the costumes or should I say “chuggers” were very nicely done. As a fan of the TV show, they were spot on. The excitement I saw in the children’s eyes, when they appeared on stage was a pure delight. I must admit I was a little skeptical. I could not image how they were going to pull it off. I love how they used animated characters with the LED video screen to tie it all together. The music sequences helped to break things up and to stretch the show out. The show ran about 1 hour 20 minutes with 35 minutes for Act 1, 15 minute intermission, 30 minutes for Act 2, so not too bad for the little ones.
Only suggestion that I have is I would have liked to see more audience participation. It is hard for young children to sit. There were a few points where the audience was involved but felt like more could have been added
Overall, a great show with amazing costumes. Definitely a train-tastic experience.
